‘‘And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. But if any man love God, the same is known of him.”
- 1 Corinthians 8:2-3
Before the next article drops on June 1st — one I’ve wrestled with for a long time — I wanted to send a quick reminder of what Versed-Well is really about.
This isn’t just a creative outlet or a place to rant about culture. It’s a mission…
Our Objective
To create smiles and provoke thought — with the Gospel as the foundation.
Not fluff. Not ego. Not “branding.” But something grounded. Something real.
The Mission
To encourage spiritual, mental, and physical growth through honesty, Scripture, and personal experience.
To connect the dots between faith and function.
To say out loud what a lot of people feel but are afraid to voice.
To point people back to Jesus — not as a “religious figure,” but as the ultimate example of manhood, mercy, and truth.
The Vision
To build a movement of men and women who live with intention — not just chasing good advice for the sake of being an “expert,” but seeking real answers. People who believe life has meaning, and want to aim their energy, effort, and identity toward something that lasts — without needing to be “right” all the time.
Because that’s the biggest issue I see in our world right now: misdirection. Young men wandering. Boys without guides. Adults avoiding truth. We don’t need more distraction — we need Direction.
Which brings me to the new Versed-Well tagline:
Duty. Diligence. Direction.
Duty to God. To truth. To those who came before us and those who will be here when we pass to the other side.
Diligence in showing up, working hard, and growing deeper. In life and relationships.
Direction toward purpose — not aimlessness. And not just “pointing to Jesus” (though that’s essential), but also encouraging boys, young men, and grown men alike to seek out role models and ask for wisdom. To say, “Hey, how’d you do it?” or “Can you show me the way?” or “Let’s work together!”
Personally, I think Jesus is the best role model a man could follow.
But I’ve also learned from guys like Dave Chappelle, Theo Von, and Jason Wilson (among others) — men who speak with clarity, wrestle with their own demons, and aren’t afraid of hard truths. Men who God obviously work through…
And one more thing…
Lately, I’ve been wrestling with this deep conviction — the kind my pastor, Johnny Chang, often warns about: Trying to teach before one is truly qualified. And I’ll be the first to admit it: I’m not a Bible scholar. I haven’t even read the Bible front to back yet, but I'm close. And even that accomplishment doesn't come close to giving justice to the infinite wisdom that book offers.
But what I have read has pierced me1 — and it’s changed the way I think, move, and create. The craziest part? Half the time, I don’t even know what’s going on. My pastor once told me: “Stop trying to understand it with your brain. Let it settle in your heart.” So now, I just read. No decoding. No deciphering. Just receiving. And it’s been a game-changer. I ask fewer questions, and I live with more peace. If you open the KJV Bible without expectations — not to prove or disprove, not even to “learn” — you might be surprised by what it does to your soul.
So no, I’m not claiming to have all the answers. I do feel a responsibility to share what God is teaching me through His Word and servants like Pastor Johnny as I experience it. Not from a pedestal — but from the trenches. The tearful, frightening, overwhelming, yet beautiful trenches!
If you’re still with me, thank you for reading. For being part of this.
The new article “He Called for Adam” drops June 1st. It’s raw, it’s weighty, and I think it’s needed. Please share this Substack with friends and family and comment!
Let’s keep building something real. ✝️

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12 KJV
